HGTV and Quicken Loans collaborate to restore historic Ransom Gillis mansion alongside Brush Park Development Company July 23, 2015 Brush Park mansion project hosted by Rehab Addict Nicole Curtis to be aired in eight-part series on HGTV this fall DETROIT, Michigan – The historic Ransom Gillis home in Detroit’s Brush Park neighborhood is about to be resurrected, thanks to HGTV, Rehab Addict Nicole Curtis and Detroit-based Quicken Loans, the nation’s second largest mortgage lender. The renovation process will be aired as an eight-part series premiering this November on HGTV. The project is also in partnership with Brush Park Development Company (BDPC), a Detroit-based development company dedicated to rebuilding an 8.4 acre site in Brush Park which will feature historic and new residences, including the Ransom Gillis home. This renovation marks the start of construction for the BPDC development which was announced in May 2015 by the City of Detroit. Utilizing the help of community volunteers, the joint Quicken Loans and HGTV project will restore the Venetian Gothic style Ransom Gillis home to its former glory. Preservationist Nicole Curtis will transform the property in this series, which will also feature Quicken Loans President Jay Farner in several episodes. “Brush Park is a vital neighborhood that is about to see a significant investment in revitalization and new construction. Once completed, this area is going to become an anchor for the growth of Detroit’s neighborhoods,” Farner said. “Communities are built brick-by-brick, through effort and passion. I am proud to say we have all of that here with this community, Nicole and this amazing home.” The room-by-room renovation and filming began last week. The series will celebrate Detroit, and the rehabilitation will be guided by inspiration from the home’s distinguished history. The transformation will include the sourcing of fixtures and furnishings from the local community. The home is located at 205 Alfred Street. It was designed as a single-family dwelling by Henry Brush and George Mason and was built between 1876 and 1878 and has been unoccupied since the mid-1960s. During this project, the expansive space will be reconfigured into two separate residences.
