PITI

PITI stands for principal, interest, taxes and insurance, which are the standard components of a monthly mortgage payment. Payments of principal and interest go directly toward repaying the loan, while the portion of the PITI payment that covers taxes and insurance (including homeowners insurance and, if applicable, mortgage insurance) go into an escrow account to cover the fees when they are due.
