In a press conference located in the Compuware Building in downtown Detroit, Angel Hernandez and Lanardo “The Pain Server” Tyner expressed their excitement about fighting for the WBU Welterweight World title.
The fighters sat on stage with their trainers and World Boxing Union officials as they discussed their training, their opponent and the chance to fight for the Welterweight belt. It was obvious to see that both men respected each other and are ready to get the fight underway.
Tyner was visibly excited as he addressed his home town crowd, repeating that the title needed to “come back to Detroit.” It is safe to say that Tyner will likely have the crowd on his side due to his strong ties to Detroit.
Tyner comes into the fight 30-8-2 with 19 recorded knockouts. Angel Hernandez, from Gary, Indiana, currently has a 16-12-1 record with 13 knockouts under his belt. Despite the difference in records, neither boxers have underestimated their opponent.
The “Rumble on the River” will be taking place at 6:00 p.m. ET, January 10, at the Masonic Temple in Detroit. This event is sponsored in part by Quicken Loans.
