  1. I recently contacted a customer service rep. regarding this my issue. I hope to have some follow up, understanding and remedy to my complaint. On 11/06/2019 I was speaking to Jonathan D. Ruiz, NMLS#:1750322 Mortgage Banker, with One Reverse Mortgage, on the telephone. I was trying to establish the value of my home and explained I did not feel it would pass an FHA inspection at this time. He casually ask me if he could check my credit. In my ignorance I believed he was just “looking” at the facts. I explained that I have no credit, no credit cards or loans, also a BK from 2012. When I checked my credit reports I discovered he did a “hard” real estate inquiry and deducted 5 points off my credit score, which will stay there for 2 years. The fact that he did not reveal to me the cost of this his actions, in the light that I would not be applying for loan, at this time, is unexceptable. I believe your company should remove his inquiry from my credit report as it was not an honest straight forward action. It should be required that he reveal the cost of this action to the consumer, before he goes forward with his request. Buyer beware of this deceptive, misleading practice of ignorant potential applicants.

    1. Hi Diane:

I’m going to get this to our team to look into your situation. I’m sorry you’ve had a poor experience and we would like to look into exactly what transpired. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to look into this.

    1. Hi John:

There are two different types of credit pulls: hard and soft.

When you apply to get a loan as you would for a car or a home mortgage, the lender or dealer is required to report that you applied for the loan and your credit score temporarily drops a little bit. It goes back up over time if you do the right things like make your payments and keep a low credit card utilization, etc. It’s worth noting that if your shopping around to check rates, if you apply for the same type of loan (e.g. at several car dealers or mortgage lenders) within the same 30-day period, it all counts as a single hard credit pull, so your credit isn’t getting hit every time.

Checking your credit score with Rocket HQ℠ is considered a soft pull because you’re not applying for a loan or credit line. It doesn’t impact your score at all. Hope this helps!

    1. Hi Rob:

Rocket HQ℠ is a freebie for everyone. You can get your VantageScore 3.0® credit score and report from TransUnion every week. Thanks!

  2. Yeah but when your credits bad or it’s not good enough and you try to get a home equity loan even though you’ve never missed a payment or ever been late on your mortgage you get no help how’s that supposed to work for you or how about a program where it helps to get better homeowners insurance where you can work with companies and say hey we got a better rate over here with the same Insurance how about helping that out with your mortgage customers

    1. Hi Ronald:

Part of the reason you may not have been able to get a home equity loan with us is that we don’t offer them right now. We offer cash-out refinances. We do try to offer various resources to clients whose credit maybe isn’t quite where it needs to be for us to help them at the moment. Rocket HQ is just one of those resources. I’m going to get this to our Client Relations team to look into your experience and see if there’s anything we can do to help you.
