If the past few years are any indication, the only thing we know about the 2015 edition is to expect the unexpected. For instance, in 2012, a couple got married at Victory Lane the night before the race. Roger Curtis, MIS President, became ordained just so he could marry the couple. If you know anything about Curtis, it’s that you never know what he’s got up his sleeve. It’s not uncommon for him to go out of his way to ensure fans at MIS are having a memorable time. Just ask the many fans who Curtis has challenged in cornhole tournaments or partied with while dressed as Elvis. If you haven’t noticed, we haven’t even discussed any of the excitement that’s happened on the track yet!
Dale Earnhardt Jr. ended his 143-race winless streak in 2012 by taking home the checkered flag at MIS in the inaugural Quicken Loans 400. In 2013, Greg Biffle led for 48 laps en route to visiting Victory Lane. A year ago, Jimmie Johnson qualified seventh but worked his way up to the front, where he finished atop the leaderboard.
What’s in store for this year’s race, you ask? Could it be our very own Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 31 Quicken Loans Chevrolet, who picks up his first victory of the season? Could Rochester Hills native and 2012 Sprint Cup Champion Brad Keselowski visit Victory Lane for the second time in 2015? The simple answer is we have no idea, which gives you all the more reason to tune in (1 p.m. ET, FOX Sports 1).
We’ve got an even better idea besides tuning in, though. Why not attend the race in person? For ticket information, visit MISSpeedway.com. There’s plenty to do for everyone in the family. Head on over and purchase your tickets now!
