2015 was a year full of highlights for Rickie Fowler. First, his partnership with Quicken Loans was announced in April. Barely a month later, his historic performance at the famed TPC Sawgrass helped him capture the biggest win of his career to date, THE PLAYERS Championship.
Coincidence? While we’d love to take some of the credit for Rickie’s breakthrough win, it was always just a matter of time before he broke through on one of golf’s biggest stages.
This week, Rickie returns to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL with hopes of overcoming one of the toughest fields in golf. In what is often referred to as the year’s “fifth major,” the 2018 rendition of THE PLAYERS includes the top 50 players in the world.
Rickie’s followed up his breakthrough win in 2015 – which included a run of four birdies and an eagle in a six-hole stretch during the back nine on Sunday – with two more PGA TOUR wins and 25 top-10 showings.
At the year’s first major championship last month, he carded a bogey-free 7-under-par 65 in Saturday’s round and followed it up with a closing 5-under-par 67 to finish in second place. He also had a top-25 showing last week and is up to No. 6 in the Official World Golf Rankings.
You won’t want to miss any of the action this week. Did we mention that Rickie is paired with Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson during the first two rounds (1:52 p.m. ET Thursday, May 10; 8:27 a.m. ET Friday, May 11)?
