With summer quickly approaching, many college students and recent graduates are scrambling to scoop up internship opportunities to gain a little experience for their resume.
Getting a foot in the door through an internship is one of the best ways to take things learned in the classroom and apply them in the workforce. However, sometimes the thought of an internship comes with some negative preconceptions: Coffee-runner, hole-puncher or shoe-shiner might be some of the ridiculous “job” tasks that come to mind.
Not to mention – wait for it – low or no pay.
While these stereotypes may be sad realities for some companies, many valuable internships do exist, and they offer great opportunities to learn and grow as an emerging professional. Some internships, especially at smaller companies, are unpaid or offer minimum wage, but offer on-the-job training and education. At that point, the decision boils down to whether or not the internship is a valuable one. If you’re just being the coffee delivery dude, then I’d probably say no (unless, of course, you really want to work for a coffee company).
But many places offer pay that is higher than minimum wage, including Detroit-based Quicken Loans.
In order to bring to light the best internships, Glassdoor collects data annually from reviews shared by interns themselves to compile a list of the 25 Highest Rated Companies for Internships. The list determines a rating out of five for each company, and they also rate the interview difficulty level.
Quicken Loans, scoring a 4.5 out of 5, was ranked fourth on Glassdoor’s list only behind Facebook (#1), Chevron (#2) and Google (#3).
Whether you’re living near one of the cities that Quicken Loans calls home or you’re willing to relocate for a summer of amazing experiences, the opportunity is now open to apply for one of the available internship positions.
What makes Quicken Loans internships so great?
Perhaps it’s the ISMs, which are the values and culture team members live by. For some, it’s the amazing culture and free popcorn and slushies. For others, it’s the feeling of working with a team instead of the traditional corporate hierarchy. Learn more about our internship program yourself by reading stories from past interns.
