How many of you have yet to start your holiday shopping? As embarrassing as it is to admit, I’m one of those people. I’m not stressing though, and neither should you. As you head out to fight through traffic and the crowded mall, forget about the stress of the holiday season and tune into your favorite radio show, Opportunity Detroit. Join host Paul W. Smith (WJR) and his special guests at 7 p.m. tonight on WJR-760 AM. Here’s a rundown of tonight’s show.
You’ll hear from a local advocate who enjoys teaching kids, entrepreneurship and technology. Tanh Tran leads the Detroit area D-New Tech meet up, which connects startups to investors. Tran also created Kidpreneur, the third winner of D:hive’s Pilot program. Classes for Kidpreneur are geared toward middle school-aged children interested in entrepreneurship, coding and robotics.
Next up is Jay Farner, president and chief marketing officer of Quicken Loans. Jay is instrumental in leveraging the synergies between Quicken Loans marketing and mortgage origination operations. This strategic alliance played a key role in the company’s record $70 billion in retail home loan volume in 2012, a 133% increase over the $30 billion previous record set in 2011.
Last but certainly not least, a quartet of colleagues from PricewaterhouseCoopers. Abagail Thompson, Walter Moore, Colleen Bailey and Kevin Daly have all made a commitment to live in downtown Detroit. If you’re thinking about moving downtown, you won’t want to miss what this group has to say about living in the D.
Don’t forget to tune in this Friday evening, December 20, at 7 p.m. ET for all that and much more!
