Some team members built a robot.
Some other team members built a shuttle tracker.
The team members in this video built a room finder and a reservation checker. See, we have several buildings and several hundred meeting rooms in our headquarters in downtown Detroit. You might have meetings in five different buildings in one day. It’s difficult to keep track of where rooms are, and that’s where Northstar and QRoom come in.
Northstar makes it easy for team members to find a room in any of our buildings. Every building (including all floor diagrams) are in the app. All a team member has to do is pull up the building, find the floor and then review the floor diagram to see where the meeting room is. Pretty cool.
QRoom lets team members know if a room is reserved and who has reserved it. All you have to do is scan a . This often solves arguments; I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been in a room and someone else has claimed they had the room reserved. Now with QRoom, the answer is just a QR code away.
The innovation that has come out of Bullet Time is truly impressive. The old-school way of thinking is that if you give someone four hours to do whatever they want, they’ll play. They’ll do nothing. They’ll be unproductive. Well, now we know the opposite is true. When given the freedom of choice, team members are productive; they do innovate, and they work on projects that interest them – not ones that are assigned. The results speak for themselves.
