Jay Farner

Jay Farner is President and Chief Marketing Officer of Quicken Loans.   Jay is responsible for leveraging the synergies between the company’s marketing and mortgage banking operations.  This strategic alliance has played a key role in the company’s record $30 billion in retail home loan volume in 2011.

In addition, Jay serves as Portfolio Manager for the Quicken Loans’ family of companies, and is a director on several of the family’s Boards, including Cellerant, a biotechnology company focused on developing human therapeutics for blood-related disorders and cancer; Sociocast, an intelligence platform providing real-time audience data and user behavior to content companies and advertisers; ePrize, the leader in the interactive promotions industry; and Protect America, a leading home security company using cutting-edge technology to provide 24-hour protection for its customers.

Jay also lends support to Bizdom U, serving on the entrepreneurial boot camp’s appropriations board which determines funding for proposed startup businesses located within the city of Detroit.

Jay joined Rock Financial in 1996 and quickly became one of the company’s top mortgage bankers.  In early 1997, he became a Director of Mortgage Banking and played a significant role in training and development for Rock Financial, the company’s former Michigan-only brand.  He was promoted to Vice President of Web Mortgage Banking in May 1998 and helped to establish Quicken Loans as the largest online lender in the country.  More recently, Jay was the Chief Executive Officer of One Reverse Mortgage, the largest reverse-only mortgage lender in America and second largest retail provider of reverse mortgage home loans.

Jay also is a member of the Karmanos Cancer Institute’s Marketing Committee.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Michigan State University and is also the recipient of the 2011 Crain’s Detroit Business, 40 under 40 Award.  Jay resides in southeast Michigan, with his wife and three children.
