It seems that every day I come into work, I get hit with some more exciting news about downtown Detroit.
Whether it’s Chrysler moving downtown or a new mobile app being developed in the city, Detroit is becoming a hot destination for businesses from all over the country looking to expand.
Roasting Plant is one such business.
This New York-based company that provides a personalized experience for coffee lovers with its unique roasting technology announced today that they will open up a third location in the First National Building in downtown Detroit. It will be located on the first floor and will provide both outdoor and indoor seating for its customers.
First things first – I love coffee. If it were socially acceptable, I’d bathe in it. I’ve been drinking coffee since second grade when my parents would take me to Starbucks as opposed to an ice cream stand after my baseball games.
My dad is the only guy I know that drinks a cup of coffee on his way to Starbucks.
When I got wind that a new coffee place was opening up within walking distance of my office, you can imagine my excitement.
I had to drink a cup of coffee to make sure that I was reading it right.
Seriously – check into Roasting Plant and see how cool their roasting technology is. It seems like it’s the filet mignon of coffee and will turn Starbucks into a Big Mac.
The coffee is brewed by what’s known as the Roasting Plant Javabot system. A JAVABOT! How could that coffee not be good?
You can watch the Javabot create the perfect cup of coffee on demand, so not only do you get an amazing cup of coffee, you get to watch a robot make you an amazing cup of coffee.
Elizabeth Rose from Roasting Plant is eager to reestablish her downtown Detroit roots. Her father used to work in the First National Building when she was younger, and she couldn’t pass up the opportunity to return to Detroit.
She said, “We are very excited to introduce the Roasting Plant experience to other parts of the country, so we jumped at the chance to open our first non-New York shop in the heart of resurging downtown Detroit…I love what is happening in Detroit – I can’t imagine not being a part of it.”
Hey Roasting Plant – you can bank on me being first in line on the day you guys open up shop.
Welcome to Detroit. We can’t wait to have you.
