I love this time of the year. The leaves are changing colors in Michigan, football season is roaring away, and in three weeks, we’ll no longer be subjected to all of these political commercials when the people pick the next president of the United States of America.
However, the month of October means one thing and one thing only to most people: Halloween candy.
I’m the type of dude who doesn’t want to work for his candy – spare me the trick-or-treating and just buy me a fun-size variety pack.
But it always begs the question of which candy out there is the best?
I asked my team just to hear what they had to say, and let’s just say our results were mixed like a <insert corny pun about mixed Halloween candy here>.
The fan favorite seemed to be Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and with good reason.
New guy John called the candy “comparable to nectar and ambrosia, the amalgamation of chocolate and peanuts stands with the creation of the wheel in its primal importance to the survival of the human race.”
Do you see why he’s on our team? Those words can speak to anyone!
Fontana was torn between the delicious Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and Butterfingers. Tough decision, and I totally understand, but Fontana had to clarify by saying, “When I say Butterfingers, I’m not talking about the Butterfinger Crisp or Snackerz, either. I don’t always eat candy, but when I do, I choose Butterfingers.”
Butterfingers and Reese’s definitely crack my starting rotation, but one variable that needs to be taken into consideration is the rare stale Butterfinger bar. You know, the one that is rock solid and chips your teeth? Those are never fun and are a safety hazard, Fontana.
Chrissy Bilger played an interesting wild card here and went with Three Musketeers. Her reasoning? “It’s pure chocolate, whipped chocolate, and I’m pretty sure some of them say there’s like 30% less fat, which makes me feel better about being a total pig.”
I’m all for candy, Chrissy, but Three Musketeers? C’mon now. You can save your nougat and give me something more substantial and manly.
My fearless team leader went with a decision that almost caused me to punch him in the face. He went with Almond Joy because he “loves the taste – the combination of nutty flavor and coconut creaminess, all wrapped in chocolate delight.”
Now, Almond Joys are a hot topic of debate when it comes to the Halloween candy discussion. Some people love ‘em, some people hate ‘em. I personally hate ‘em because I’m against the coconut flavor. It’s just not for me. I was that kid in elementary school that would come prepared with a bag full of Almond Joys and Mounds ready to wheel-and-deal for some Reese’s Pieces.
Yes – Reese’s Pieces are my favorite Halloween candy because it blends the genius of the M&M with the deliciousness of the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup.
It’s almost like Mr. Reese’s and Ms. M&M had a baby, and out came the glorious Reese’s Pieces.
What’s your favorite Halloween candy? Leave it in the comment section and who knows? You might get that candy on your doorstep in the near future!
