Top-Five Place to Work in IT? Sounds About Right!

We woke up to some fantastic news in the Quicken Loans world this morning. Quicken Loans placed fifth on Computerworld’s 2012 List of “100 Best Places to Work in IT!

Not a top-five place to work in the mortgage industry.

Not a top-five place to work in the lending industry.

A top-five place to work in IT!

This is a tremendous accolade to add to our collection, and there’s no doubt in my mind that the 474 team members on our various technology teams would attest that we should be ranked even higher than this.

As a former tech guy turned writer, I know how welcoming of an environment Quicken Loans is to innovation and improvement. For those of you who don’t know, there’s a time slot every week called “Bullet Time” where our IT folk drop everything that they’re working on to focus solely on individual projects to better Quicken Loans. Some Bullet Time innovations have included a Quicken Loans streaming video site, and a mobile app that allows team members to find conference rooms easier.

An expression that I’ve heard floating around Quicken Loans on numerous occasions is that we’re a technology company that happens to sell mortgages, and this solidifies that claim.

The most recent ranking marks the third consecutive year that Quicken Loans has placed in the top 10, and includes a jump from 10th place last year to 5th place this year.

Between this and FORTUNE naming Quicken Loans a top 10 company to work for, combined with being named “Highest in Customer Satisfaction for Primary Mortgage Origination in the United States,” two years in a row by J.D. Power and Associates – needless to say – it’s been a good year for us over here at Quicken Loans.

Here’s to the rest of the year!
