Bond markets are down slightly this morning on what should be a quiet New Year’s Eve trading day. Today is the last day for legislators to avoid the tax hikes and spending cuts that would go into effect at midnight if Congress is unable to reach a deal.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 18.47 points (+0.14%), while the Nasdaq also went up 24.59 points (+0.83%). Likewise, the S&P 500 increased 6.43 points (+0.46%).
