Finding new and interesting stories for This Week in Financial Blunders has been a bit of a challenge over the past week or so. Why’s that? Well it’s because the only thing being covered on American news outlets has been the government shutdown, and rightfully so. It’s one of the biggest, if not the biggest, stories of the year and it has potential to affect the entire global economy. That’s why this week’s stories of monetary mishaps are all caused by the shutdown. The phrase “read ‘em and weep” has never rung so true.
Let’s celebrate the start of a brand new year in Detroit with a food truck feast downtown!
On Thursday, January 10, from 11:45 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., we’re giving New York City a run for their lunchtime money with food trucks at Cadillac Square and Campus Martius Park!
Four food trucks will be open for lunch and sweet treats, for that authentic, hustle and bustle experience of big city food.
El Guapo Fresh Mexican Grill – The first licensed food truck in Detroit history!
Mac Shack – New takes on the classic Mac & Cheese!
Green Zebra – “New American street food” featuring salads, grilled cheese & tomato soup combos.
Treat Dreams – Finish your savory meal with a sweet! How about a brownie or ice cream sandwich?
After you eat, work it off a little by skating at the Campus Martius Rink! The first 100 people can skate for FREE thanks to Quicken Loans!
And like your favorite infomercial, “But wait, there’s more!”
The Detroit Shoppe (1201 Woodward) and Moosejaw, (1275 Woodward at Grand River Avenue) are open for shopping!
Starting at 9:30 a.m., the Detroit Shoppe is giving the first 300 people free bagels. The store will remain open until 6:00 p.m. and Moosejaw is open from noon-9:00 p.m.
Help us continue making Detroit an even GREATER American city this year. Tomorrow’s weather forecast: 40 degrees and sunny – perfect for Thaw-Out Thursday!
