Every week it seems like the VA Unit banking team in Cleveland is up to something. They’re so involved in the veteran community that I have to be on my game 24/7 just to be able to keep up. It’s a good thing for them I welcome the challenge. The team’s most recent endeavor was in support of our partnership with Operation Homefront for their Back to School Brigade.

Know Your Mortgage: VA Loans
by Travis Pelto on March 13, 2013 in Mortgage Rates
We’re getting more comfortable with home loans as the weeks progress, but i’m about to throw in a variable: Veterans are eligible for great perks and discounts on their mortgages. They’re called VA loans, and they are simplified as much as possible in this week’s Know Your Mortgage: VA loans.
VA Loan Requirements For Reservists & National Guard
by Amanda Pallay on February 21, 2013 in Mortgage Rates
A VA loan is an incredible benefit for veterans or active duty service members. Unfortunately, many people who are eligible to receive this benefit aren’t aware they qualify, and most of those who aren’t aware are found in the Reserve and National Guard.
Detroit’s Veterans Day Parade
by Amanda Pallay on November 1, 2012 in Zing Zone
Quicken Loans is one of the country’s top lenders of VA loans. I’d like to attribute that to not only our AMAZING mortgage process, but also to the fact that we put a lot of effort into supporting the men and women of the armed forces. It’s important to know that this dedication to veterans isn’t just our job; we have a personal interest in this as well. That’s why I’m excited to remind everyone that the 7th Annual Metro Detroit Veterans Day Parade & Ceremonies will be this Saturday, November 3, at 10:00 a.m.
Warm and Fuzzy Thoughts About Veterans for the 4th of July
by Amanda Pallay on June 29, 2012 in Zing Zone
With the Fourth of July coming up, an email about veterans called “Sack Lunches” is getting around like wildfire. And although I will admit it is a bit hokey, the sentiment is what gets my hardened, cynical, curmudgeonly side a little choked up. So, when you’re firin up the fireworks and shootin off bottle rockets, drinking and hootin’ and hollerin on this year’s Independence Day, maybe you can write a note, say a little prayer, pour a little out, or send good thoughts to the men and the women of the armed forces who put their lives on the line every day to protect our nation’s independence and freedom.

Stiggy’s Dogs – Man’s Best Friend Helping America’s Heroes
by Amanda Pallay on April 25, 2012 in Zing Zone
My friends Joe and Jennifer Petre have started an organization called Stiggy’s Dogs as a way to honor their nephew HM3 Benjamin Phillip “Doc Stiggy” Castiglione who “gave his life working as a Corpsman in Helmand Province, Southern Afghanistan.” Stiggy’s Dogs helps support veterans suffering from PTSD and traumatic brain injury by pairing a service member with a psychiatric service dog.
Remembering Our Troops During the Holidays
by Elias Akouri on December 13, 2011 in Family Focus, Zing Zone
For the average American, it’s easy to get caught up in day-to-day activities and forget about our troops, especially during the holidays. But for our troops, I can safely say there isn’t a day that goes by when they forget about us back home. So, in the spirit of the holidays, and in honor of those brave servicemen and women, I challenge all of you to do a little something extra to remember our troops during the holidays.

Ross McGinnis: How a Soldier’s Sacrifice Continues To Inspire
by Amanda Pallay on September 19, 2011 in Culture, Events
The kick-off of the 2011 Quicken Loans Carrier Classic happened to remind one of our team members, Kurt Richardson, about something he had written in honor of the military service of many of his family members*, and the pride and reverence he has for those who continue to serve.
