If you’re a local restaurant or bar owner in either San Francisco or Detroit, you’re probably just as happy as the players and coaches that made it to the World Series, because you’re about to see an unbelievable surge in business over the next 10 days. Just by taking a look at the possible economic impact in Detroit, my eyes instantly turned into dollar signs, and I’m not even a business owner.
This morning marked the opening day to the first ever Live Downtown Games in our very own, beautiful, Campus Martius Park! Quicken Loans, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Compuware, DTE Energy, and Strategic Staffing Solutions are locked together in a week-long battle of strength, wits and determination!
The Live Downtown Games started with a bang as representatives from each company gave invigorating speeches to their teammates and talked “smack” to everyone else!
Bill Emerson, CEO of Quicken Loans, laid the foundation and energized our team members as he went undefeated in the Bungee Run contest after winning three consecutive times.
Following in his prime footsteps, the Quicken Loans Obstacle Course Team won the gold medal, after getting an outstanding relay time of just 2:52! Quicken Loans was extremely well represented today and if the rest of the week is anything like today it promises to be smooth sailing to the beautiful, 3-foot tall live, work and play trophy!
We can barely contain our excitement and can’t wait to see the turnout for the rest of the week!
Moving on, tomorrow is the Canned Food Build Day, where team members will use all of the canned foods donated over the past week to build a remarkable Detroit landmark. All the food will then be donated to Forgotten Harvest. Come out and support the Quicken Loans Build Team in the Compuware Atrium starting at 11:00 a.m.!
A special thanks to everyone who participated in today’s games, and congratulations for taking home the gold!
You’re all truly…ENGINEERED TO AMAZE!!
