On Sept. 10, team members of Quicken Loans and the Rock Ventures family of companies showed just how by gathering in the Compuware Building lobby to celebrate the start of Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit’s “Dollars for Jobs – Pass It Forward” campaign.
Each team member placed a dollar bill into the large envelope that was passed around, demonstrating how the campaign works. Envelopes are passed from person to person until each one contains $25 or more. The $25 in each envelope represents the approximate cost for Goodwill Industries to provide one day of job preparedness training to an unemployed resident living in Metro Detroit.
Quicken Loans CEO Bill Emerson joined Lorna Utley of Goodwill Industries as well as executives from Biggby Coffee, GalaxE Solutions and the Detroit Lions to discuss the importance of the Dollars for Jobs initiative. In fact, Hall of Fame football player and former Detroit Lion, Lem Barney, encouraged everyone to participate in the campaign, while Lions mascot Roary, got the crowd fired up to pass the envelope.
While a single dollar might not seem like a lot, it can make a great difference when everyone comes together! So grab an envelope, contribute a dollar, pass it around and drop it off at your nearest Biggby by Sunday, Sept. 30 and earn a special discount offer. You can also make an online donation here. Remember, we can all help fight unemployment in Southeast Michigan one dollar at a time!
