I’ve been to a lot of cool sporting events.

I saw my hometown Detroit Lions play the Green Bay Packers at historic Lambeau Field.  I was at Game 5 of the Detroit Pistons and New Jersey Nets semifinal matchup in 2004 (triple OT – AMAZING!) at the Palace. I witnessed  University of Michigan vs. Michigan State University at Spartan Stadium in 1997, where Charles Woodson still hasn’t come down from his leaping interception.

I’ve been extremely lucky.

And this Friday won’t be an exception.

Quicken Loans is sponsoring the historic, first-ever college basketball game played on an aircraft carrier. On November 11, Veterans Day, my Michigan State Spartans will take on the #1 ranked University of North Carolina Tar Heels in the Quicken Loans Carrier Classic and I will be one of the 7000 lucky people on board cheering.

It’s been hard getting through the week knowing what waits for me at the end. To quote my intrepid teammate, Eric Mally, “Are you as giddy as a schoolgirl?”

Yes, Eric. Yes, I am.

There’s a lot of green and white around the office, the people I work with are proud fans and alums. Rest assured fellow Spartans, representing for each and every one of you is my solemn promise.
