One of the things that makes me so proud of working at Quicken Loans and with our awesome VA loan experts isn’t how much our team put their heart and soul into what they do every day. It isn’t how hard they work for veterans and active duty service members. It isn’t how genuinely nice they are. What makes me so proud is how much they – we – care about supporting veterans outside of our normal work day.
Just recently, Quicken Loans has become a sponsor of the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) Mission: ABLE campaign. On a personal level, I am over the moon about this partnership because this is an organization I have supported since early college. The PVA helps support and empower veterans who have been seriously injured in service. They’re dedicated to creating an “America where all veterans and people with disabilities, and their families, have everything they need to live full and productive lives.” They advocate for better health care and benefits, research and education into spinal cord injury and dysfunction, and help provide veterans with the opportunity to rebuild their lives.
According to the PVA, more than 44,000 veterans live with paralysis. And even though most spinal cord injuries can cost up to $3 million per person in health care expenses alone, veterans’ benefits aren’t always guaranteed. And on top of that, more than 84% of veterans with severe disabilities are currently unemployed. PVA’s Mission:ABLE campaign helps “nation’s paralyzed veterans rebuild their lives and receive the care, benefits and job services they need and deserve.”
