Who’s noticed a little extra excitement around the workplace today? Could it be due to the fact that the weekend will officially be here in a few short hours? Sure. Could it be due to the fact that everyone’s favorite radio show – Opportunity Detroit – will air at 7 p.m.? We’d like to think so. On your way home from work or out to dinner, be sure to join Paul W. Smith (WJR) and Stephen Luigi Piazza (Quicken Loans) on WJR-760 AM to find out about all the great things happening in Detroit! Here’s a rundown of tonight’s show:
Get to know Jamie Sedlacek, volunteer relations and programs coordinator for Rock Ventures. After graduating from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Neb., Jamie worked for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the American Lung Association. Her husband was offered a job in Detroit in the fall of 2012, so the couple packed their bags and moved to the Motor City. Jamie now helps coordinate volunteer opportunities and programs for Quicken Loans and the Family of Companies. In 2013, Quicken Loans team members volunteered 36,000 hours at more than 400 community events.
Introducing Sarah Brithinee, CEO of Wedit. Sarah lived in Los Angeles for five years where she graduated from the Fashion Institute with a degree in Merchandise Marketing. Now, she oversees all operations, business development, marketing initiatives and planning for Wedit. Wedit is a Bizdom company that provides a fun and easy way for consumers to capture and share all the moments from their weddings.
Meet Julia Solis and Shel Kimen, co-founders of the Sea Foam Palace of Arts and Amusements. The duo is part of a team that’s been working on Sea Foam Palace since mid-2013, and they’ve collaborated on multiple art and performance projects since the 1990s. The Sea Foam Palace is a museum of curiosity which invites people to explore history and science in new and inventive ways.
Be sure to tune in tonight, January 24, at 7 p.m. ET for all that and much more!
