Enjoy your cider and donuts this fall while tuning into the Opportunity Detroit Radio Show. Paul W. Smith (WJR) and Stephen Luigi Piazza’s (Quicken Loans) weekly radio show on WJR-760 AM will feature four special guests tonight. Here’s a rundown for tonight’s show:
You’ll get the lowdown on Detroit’s soon-to-be very first nano brewery.
Stephen Roginson is owner and head brewer of Batch Brewing Company. Stephen and his partner plan on brewing craft beer in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit. Unlike many start-ups, Batch Brewing Company is raising capital strictly through a crowd-funding campaign and hopes to launch soon. Learn more at BatchBrewingCompany.com.
Meet an author with over 20 years of public relations and leadership experience.
Renee Prewitt, who serves as principal of The Prewitt Group, recently wrote a children’s book titled “Taj Cleans the Garage.” The book provides a positive story about a boy who wants new cars for his train set and has to earn money to buy them. Renee hopes that more parents find time to read to their children on a regular basis.
Hear from the president and chief marketing officer of Quicken Loans.
Jay Farner has been instrumental since the early ’90s in helping to establish the company as the largest online lender in the country. He will share more about the “Quicken Loans Dream Seats” promotion with the Detroit Lions. These premium seats make fans feel like superstars while visiting Ford Field. He’ll also share other sponsorship efforts with the Detroit Lions.
You’ll learn about a fellowship program that places top college graduates in start-ups in emerging U.S. cities.
Andrew Yang is founder and president of Venture for America. His program aims to generate job growth and training the next generation of entrepreneurs. Quicken Loans has pledged $1.5 million to bring fellows to work in Detroit and Cleveland. The commitment will send 100 top graduates to the two cities over the next five years. There are currently 12 fellows working in Detroit.
