Paul W. Smith (WJR) and Stephen Luigi Piazza (Quicken Loans) are two of the biggest fans of all of the new growth going on in and around downtown Detroit. If you tune in to their weekly radio show on WJR-760 AM, you’ll meet the masterminds behind the new organizations and businesses sprouting up around the city! Here’s a rundown for tonight’s show.
You’ll hear from a business owner who is expanding his downtown presence. Jay Lambrecht owns and operates Bookies Bar & Grille. His tavern has been proudly serving downtown Detroit for more than six years. Bookies Tavern has received many awards and has been featured in numerous publications. Jay has recently opened his own commercial and residential real estate brokerage – Lambrecht Realty. He plans to concentrate on downtown projects.
Are you a food junky? If so, you’ll be interested in hearing about a local online food ordering company. Travis Johnson is a Chicago transplant who brought his company, Foodjunky, to Detroit to join Bizdom’s growing network. Travis’ company makes ordering for large groups simple. Foodjunky has partnered with 20 downtown restaurants to provide delivery services to its customers. To place an order, visit FoodJunky.com.
You’ll meet one of the organizers of Detroit’s Summer in the City program. Mary Naoum is a coordinator for the nonprofit that is transforming volunteerism in Detroit. The organization aims to rally volunteers to partner with Detroit residents and to make a difference around the city. Some of the organization’s projects include painting murals, planting urban farms and gardens and leading youth camps. To learn more about the organization’s projects, visit SummerInTheCity.com.
