Super Bowl XLVIII is only two days away! As the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks prepare for Sunday’s big game (6:30 p.m. ET, FOX), the rest of us are left searching for something to make the time go by. Don’t worry, we’ve got just the thing for you – the Opportunity Detroit radio show! Join Paul W. Smith (WJR) and Stephen Luigi Piazza (Quicken Loans) on WJR-760 AM to get the inside scoop on all the great things happening in Detroit. Here’s a rundown of tonight’s show:
Meet the man behind the 10th annual Motown Winter Blast. Who’s ready for some winter fun? Motown Winter Blast kicks off in Campus Martius next Friday, February 7 and continues through Sunday, February 9. Jon Witz of Jonathan Witz and Associates is the event producer for this time-honored Detroit tradition. The 2014 Meridian Winter Blast presented by Quicken Loans will include many winter attractions, including GM Foundation’s “Winter Blast Off” science tent, Flagstar Bank’s ice garden, marshmallow roasting, hot chocolate, live music, dog sledding and the Buick Snow Slide, a 30-ft., three-lane tower which offers high-speed thrills for kids and adults alike. Sound like fun? For admission information and more, visit WinterBlast.com, and of course, tune in to hear Jon’s take on the event!
Hear from Glenda Price, co-chair of the Detroit Blight Removal Taskforce. We’re all about making Detroit a better place, and the Blight Removal Taskforce, a public-private partnership committed to developing a plan to remove blighted structures from the city, is ready to do just that. This past December, the taskforce started surveying Detroit’s neighborhoods to see what needs to be done. As of this moment, about 79% of the surveying is complete – meaning we’re getting closer and closer to taking action. Glenda will be on the show to tell you all about their mission, but in the meantime, check out TimeToEndBlight.com.
You’ll learn about Quicken Loans veteran mission. Three of our wonderful team members will join the hosts tonight to discuss the Tour of Duty program at Quicken Loans. Director of Recruiting Michelle Salvatore, military veteran recruiter John Gardner and Tour of Duty associate Aaron Jenkins will give you some insight into how Quicken Loans is helping veterans. Our very own Tour of Duty program is an initiative to connect veterans to employment opportunities within our Family of Companies. It allows service members to use skills gained in the military in a civilian setting, because we know that veterans have a lot of great skills to share. Tune in tonight to hear from our team members. Be sure to tune in tonight, January 31, at 7 p.m. ET for all that and much more!
