Will Smith, CFO of the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy, discussed the organization that is responsible for establishing and improving the RiverWalk and its surrounding area. The conservancy’s goals are to create a collective sense of ownership and accessibility to the RiverWalk and to enhance Detroit’s image by emphasizing its international riverfront. Some of the summer’s upcoming events include the RiverFront Run/Walk on June 14, the River Days festival on June 20 and the Gold Cup boat races that will be held on the Detroit River, July 11–13. Sam Kennedy is executive director of Techweek, which is a conference that showcases the innovation ecosystems in cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami and New York. This year is Detroit’s inaugural conference, and it will be held in the former Federal Reserve Building in downtown Detroit. Techweek’s flagship event this year was held in Chicago and drew more than 15,000 attendees! Techweek Detroit will host a series of summits including City of the Future, DevSummit, EduTECH, IT Summit, Startup Summit, AutoTECH, HealthTECH and Future of Media.
