The majority of economists surveyed by Bloomberg believe the Fed will announce today at 2:15 p.m., the future implementation of the plan dubbed “Operation Twist.” Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke has previously indicated the plan, which will replace some of the Fed’s shorter-term debt with longer-term debt, is a possible strategy to bolster the economy as risks to the U.S. recovery increase. Expect larger market volatility if the Fed decides not to “do the twist.”
