Although housing starts dropped further than most had expected, that’s not out of the ordinary during this time of year. Starts tend to be more unpredictable, month over month, during the winter.
Even with today’s news, the housing sector is still healthy. With short term and long term rates hovering near record low levels, many people are purchasing new homes. Consumers are still interested in housing and even though the Fed is in a tightening cycle at the moment, we don’t see anything on the immediate interest rate horizon which should upset that.
