One of the best parts about homeownership is being able to decorate your new home in any way that you want.  Long gone are the days of living with white walls because your landlord won’t let you paint!  My personal favorite architectural & interior design style is mid-century modern.  This style reflects the design aesthetic of the 1950′s and was popularized by designers like Frank Lloyd Wright and Charles & Ray Eames.  On my quest to find more mid-century modern inspiration for my own home, I stumbled across three celebrity homes that embrace this historic time in modern design.  Feast your eyes on these beauties:

1. Zach Efron

High School Musical star Zach Efron purchased his mid-century, historically significant home in December 2008.  It was built as part of the Case Study program which was a series of experiments (running from 1945-1966) in residential architecture sponsored by Arts & Architecture magazine.  Mr. Efron owns  “Case Study House No. 17″ by Rodney Walker.  It would be amazing to own such a unique piece of modern architectural history.

2. Scarlett Johansson & Ryan Reynolds

The newly crowned Babe of the Year & Sexiest Man Alive Hollywood power couple recently purchased a gorgeous home in Los Feliz, California with its own ties to the Case Study program.  The home they purchased was not part of the program, but the architects the designed their new house, Buff & Hensman, also designed Case Study house #28.  The famed California architectural firm won several awards during their relatively short lived existence and you can see why when you look at this beautiful 2,835 square feet home with 2 bedrooms, 3 baths, wood beamed ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, a pool, and panoramic views.

3. Janet Charlton

Our final mid-century modern home is owned by a woman who gained her celebrity by “reporting” on celebrities.  She is famed gossip columnist Janet Charlton and her dedication to 50′s style is pretty incredible.  Her admiration for the style doesn’t stop at the architecture – her home is littered with gems from the era, including Eames loungers, George Nelson sofas & Eero Saarinen Tulip chairs.  This could easily be my dream home:
