During a recent trip to Cleveland to see the Cavaliers take on the Milwaukee Bucks, I was lucky enough to experience five-star lodging in a way only the Ritz Carlton could provide.

While I appreciated the bellhop’s assistance with my bags, the real five-star experience began when I took a minute to lie down in what became the most plush, unsparing and overgenerous bed I have ever slept in.

Sadly, this was the first time I was actually able to define what entails a good night’s sleep. Yet, according to reports, many Americans not only believe sleep is inconsequential, they often sacrifice sleep to maximize hours spent on the job.

However, research shows the only thing you maximize by depriving yourself of sleep is your chance of injury or accident.

Here is an amazing infographic from our friends at Frugal Dad illustrating the amount of money companies lose from sleep-deprived workers, disasters caused by sleep deprivation and the elevated health risks due to a lack of sleep.
