The Zing! Blog likes to share cool happenings in Detroit, and we’ve got another one for you!
A new Detroit-inspired sculpture exhibit is on display now through November 2, 2012, inside the lobby of the Chase Tower (611 Woodward Avenue) in Downtown Detroit.
Free and open to the public, “New City – Old City: A Sculpture Exhibit by the Nordin Brothers” features 19 metal and glass sculptures, some as high as 20 feet tall! The exhibit debuted with a private viewing on October 4 at the historic Whitney restaurant and opened to the public in the Chase Tower on October 8.
The Nordin Brothers – Erik and Israel – own and operate the Detroit Design Center, where metalwork, blown glass, wood and other media come together to form one-of-a-kind pieces. Their sculptures, railings, lighting and other design touches can be found on the Quicken Loans floors of the Compuware Building, the M@dison Building, 24Grille and many other Detroit-area businesses and private homes.
Sponsored by Rock Ventures, Bedrock Real Estate Services and Fathead, the exhibit is designed to showcase Detroit’s creative community and how Rock Ventures integrates art into the workspaces of its occupied buildings.
I already paid a visit and took a few photos to share with you, but it’s always more fun to see it for yourself, so let us know what you think!
