The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) is always a great start to the year for Detroit as the world descends on the Motor City to see innovative car designs and auto technology of the future.
The Press Preview, Industry Preview and Charity Preview usually offer the public a chance to see a glimpse of what to expect before the doors open to the masses. However, a special show, The Gallery, presented by Opportunity Detroit, provided 500 auto enthusiasts a chance to get up close and personal with 28 of the most luxurious vehicles in the world on January 11 at the MGM Grand Detroit.
A strolling pre-glow dinner took place at the casino’s club, Ignite, where attendees dined on swordfish, prime rib, pureed potatoes, chocolate covered strawberries and other decadent delights. After dinner, guests made their way to the main ballroom where vehicles valued at more than $7 million awaited them. For the first time since it’s inception in 2007, The Gallery featured a fashion show presented by Detroit’s Styleline Magazine with fashions provided by Neiman Marcus.
The most exciting aspect of the event is the fact that no velvet ropes come between the car and the admirer. Guests had the chance to actually sit inside vehicles from Aston Martin, Bentley, Falcon Motorsports, Ferrari, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Lingenfelter, Maserati, McLaren, Porsche, Range Rover, Rolls-Royce and SRT.
While The Gallery was a special event with a limited number of tickets, the Detroit auto show will be open to the public from January 18 – 26 at Cobo Center. For more information and for tickets, visit Naias.com.
