A couple of good videos from this morning’s Squawk Box on CNBC that we wanted to share with our readers.
First, Quicken Loans Chairman Dan Gilbert appeared today to discuss Detroit’s resurgence and challenges. Gilbert talked about Detroit’s bankruptcy, improvements to infrastructure and basic services for city residents from the estimated $1.5 billion plan of Emergency Manager, Kevin Orr. He also pointed out Detroit’s bright future.
Gilbert also discussed his role on a task force to help reduce blight in the city and the importance of getting vacant and dangerous structures removed. Once that happens, huge chunks of land with new infrastructure will soon be available at very cheap prices.
Then Kid Rock discussed his love and dedication to the city and his home on Detroit’s east side, which he bought a few years ago. I’m familiar with that neighborhood. I worked on a home there in high school, painting and doing other odd jobs. That area is filled with nice homes. Anyway, Kid Rock made it clear that there is no place like Detroit for him. And that Madonna “ain’t done nothing for Detroit.”
Here are the videos. Let us know what you think.
