Quicken Loans Chairman Dan Gilbert appeared today on CNBC’s Squawk Box to promote Detroit and talk about all things Opportunity Detroit.
If you haven’t been to Detroit lately, you wouldn’t believe all that’s going on.
Entrepreneurs at the M@dison building. Google doing some cool stuff here (Victoria Araj is over at a party with Google for Entrepreneurs at the M@dison as I write this). Detroit’s municipal bankruptcy and the Feds coming in and helping remove blight.
Dan also talked about the proposed government shutdown and how it hopefully will have no impact on mortgages. It’s business as usual. That’s the way it should be.
Gilbert doesn’t expect any type of governmental bailout for Detroit and talked about how the free market will help turn things around. Neighborhood blight was also discussed. Dan sits on a committee that is spearheading urban blight removal in Detroit.
Lots of other great Detroit topics were discussed. I don’t want to give them all away. Check out the video for yourself and see why Detroit truly is a place of new opportunity. Hence, Opportunity Detroit. Yo.
