After four years’ worth of traditional “single-guy college Super Bowl parties” where my roommates and I would order a smorgasbord of buffalo wings, ribs, French fries, and onion rings, I’m ready to change things up. Rather than repeat with the same old snacks, why not cook for yourself? Luckily, I got “The Best Cookbook Ever” as a holiday gift. No really, that’s the title of the cookbook. Authors Eli and Max Sussman give some great recipes to change things up at your Super Bowl party this year. Here are a few of my favorites.
Baby showers – people either love them or hate them. One way to get your guests excited for your celebration is to create a theme. Themes make the party feel more festive and provide for some really cute pictures!
Need some theme inspiration? Then you’ve come to the right place! Whether you’re looking for a pretty pink party, a blue bash or a unique affair, I’ve got some ideas for you!
Sugar and Spice– A Pair of Pears
“Sugar and spice and everything nice, that’s what little girls are made of.” Celebrate your baby girl with a girly sugar-and-spice shower!
Shabby Chic– Kara’s Party Ideas
If you like shabby chic décor then you’ll love this shower idea! Mixing and matching vintage prints and colors like mint, peach and light pink give this shower a girly, chic feel.

Shake, Rattle and Roll– Kara’s Party Ideas
What a cute theme for a shower! This one was done for a little boy, but could easily be switched up for a girl or a gender-neutral shower. Keeping the color palette and decorations minimal gives this shower a modern touch.
Humpty Dumpty – Hostess with the Mostess
Bring a childhood favorite nursery rhyme to life with this Humpty Dumpty-themed shower. The natural elements like bricks and grass lend themselves nicely to a boy-themed shower.
No Pink Allowed– Tonality Designs
This designer turned one family’s backyard into a little boy’s clubhouse. What a great way to welcome your little man into the world. No pink allowed!
Camping Baby Shower – Jesi Haack Design
Welcoming a little lumberjack? Try out this awesome camping-themed shower. Encourage guests to get into the spirit by dressing in camping attire. Flannel shirts, anyone?
Bow Tie Baby Shower – Kara’s Party Designs
The mustache craze is cute, but it’s becoming a little overused. Try a different spin on the little man theme with bow ties. You could even make ties for all the guests to wear!
What Will It Bee? – Catch My Party
What an adorable idea for a gender reveal party or baby shower! And you can use little honey sticks or candies as the favor. Already announced the sex of your baby? Keep the theme but change it to a “Mommy to Bee” or “Honey Bee” name.
Extra! Extra!– Juneberry Lane
It’s headline news: Mom is having a baby! Celebrate the announcement with a newsprint-themed shower.
Bun in the Oven – On to Baby
Live up to the old saying with this classy “bun in the oven” dinner theme. They sent guests home with cinnamon buns, which is a cute touch. Not a fan of cinnamon? Try honey buns.
Ready to Pop – We Heart Parties
A “Ready to Pop” shower brings tons of fun! From balloons and popcorn bars to push pops, guests and mommy will love this quirky theme.
Oh the Places You’ll Go – Shine Out Loud
The little one is bound to do some great things in life. Celebrate their future with a “Oh the Places You’ll Go” shower based on the Dr. Suess book.
